The Montserrat Customs & Excise Department is in the process of merging with its counterpart in the Inland Revenue Department to form the Montserrat Customs and Revenue Service (MCRS).

The Customs will continue to play a critical role in the economic and social well-being and development of Montserrat. It is responsible for the collection of over one-third of internally-generated revenue and is the first line of defence against the threat of drugs and other social ills. Management and staff at the MCRS are well aware that we face many challenges in the years ahead as international travel expands and those that would seek to evade duties and restrictions become more and more elusive.

We are determined to play our role to the utmost in continuing to serve the people of Montserrat, both in terms of collecting revenue and also protecting our society. The MCRS is in the process of implementing a modernisation plan aimed at improving the efficiency of services provided whilst continuing to provide an effective and customer oriented service.
